FAQ

FAQ

+ What program/ hardware do you use?
Adobe Photoshop.

+ How long have you been making maps?
I made my first map on the 25th of September, 2008.

+ Where does your inspiration come from?
I get inspired easily by looking at photographs, drawings, animations as well as other people's maps. When there is no inspiration, I sometimes just started making a map without any actual idea of what I was going to make. I think the key thing is really just to get started.

+ How long do you take to make a map?
It varies from 15 minutes to 3 hours, sometimes even longer. There are a lot of factors that can affect my working speed: mixing of props (from different Maple Story towns), availability of inspirations or references, a need for custom sprites, etc.

+ Could you teach me how to make maps?
This tutorial created by Gregio on how to make a map may come in handy.

+ Where do you get your map making resources?
I extract the resources manually using either WZextract or HaRepacker. There is this simple tutorial by Fluffycloudkit on how you use Harepacker if you would like to try it out. It is however extremely time-consuming, so it might be better off for you to search for existing resources that someone else has already extracted and shared online. I only do so as I enjoy that process, where I could learn the map items with their locations and get inspired along the way.

+ How do you find the object you need after it's extracted?
I organised them into certain categories and I remember their locations. The more often and the longer you making maps, the easier it is for you to search for the stuff you need. Playing the actual Maple Story game would also help.

+ Do you accept map requests?
I used to do that for about a year. However, I am now quite busy with other responsibilities, so I do not take requests at the moment. I am hoping to get back to the map making game one day in the future though.

+ Do you play MapleStory?
I used to play MapleSEA under the IGN of Kirimy and got myself to a level 160 Bowmaster.

+ How many maps did you make?
464 maps, counted on August 18th, 2018.
